The Outpost: A Simple Place on the Mountain

The Outpost sits high on the ranch, where birds come to the deck and the trail drops toward water. It’s a quiet way to meet this valley.

The Outpost is our little place up on the mountain, bright and simple, built more for the view and the breeze than for fuss. It sleeps a few people comfortably, but what I love most about it is the way folks are able to settle in and start paying attention. They sit out on the deck in the hanging chair, coffee in hand, and before long they’re watching the birds come in to peck at the bananas set out near the railing, or listening to the river rushing through the valley below.

That deck has a way of slowing people down. You can eat a meal out there, play a family game or just gaze at the layers and folds of mountains and hear the ranch carrying on around you. Step out onto the sendero that drops toward the stream and waterfalls, or head over to see the horses and the cattle and experience the way we move through the ranch. For those who want to visit and wake up inside the rhythm of this place, The Outpost is where that begins.

Relaxing at the Outpost, people come to understand that this ranch is more than fields and fences, it is a quiet place where someone can stop, look out and appreciate where they are.
